Robert was born in Los Angeles but grew up in the Mission District in San Francisco. During the Great Depression, Robert helped out his mother by hawking news papers on the streets of San Francisco.
Robert enlisted into WWII and played football, basketball and baseball for the United States Army American Service Team. After the war Robert attended and played football for San Francisco City College where he played on a championship team and received the Hall of Fame Award.. Robert then attended and received a football scholarship to the University of Santa Clara. Robert was the quarterback on the team that won the Orange Bowl in 1950.
Robert learned to be a master carpenter from his grandfather, who worked on designing Hollywood movie sets and built beautiful additions to the home of Gary Cooper and other Hollywood illuminati. He passed on his love of fine craftsmanship to his grandson, Robert.
Robert continued to work in the 1950’s in construction and received his Contractors License in 1962 and has been working ever since as a premier Master Builder with his company, Higher Ground Construction.
Robert and his company Higher Ground Construction, excel in creating beautiful custom homes. He has built in Marin, Sonoma, Kenwood, and now in Lake County. Higher Ground Construction staff is highly skilled in classic and custom accruements for the discriminating client. Higher Ground Construction excels in superior craftsmanship, while completing projects in a timely and professional manner. Robert is a gifted pianist and enjoys playing and composing music in the evenings. He has a special relationship with Debussy, the French pianist who inspires him with his compositions. He respects and enjoys the beauty of life to the fullest, finding inspiration in the natural splendor around him.
